My Reiki Journey

My introduction to Reiki began in the 1990s while I was working in a gem and mineral shop. During that time, I developed a deep appreciation for the natural healing qualities of stones and minerals. It was there that I met a Reiki Master and began receiving regular treatments. During my very first session, I experienced a profound recognition — the sensation of hands-on healing felt deeply familiar, reminiscent of how I intuitively soothed and rebalanced my body as a child.

After exploring many different modalities of energy work, I knew that Reiki was the path I was meant to follow. Over the course of a year, I received my full Reiki training, including the attunements I received while pregnant. Reiki supported me throughout my pregnancy and labor, helping me cultivate a deeper awareness of my body and inner relationship with myself. I soon began offering sessions and eventually established a Reiki Clinic that supported the public and helped foster community.

For ten years, I ran the Reiki Clinic at Leapin’ Lizards in Portland, Maine. This was a transformative time — I witnessed countless individuals reconnect with their own healing abilities and watched a vibrant, supportive Reiki community grow. It became the longest-running public Reiki Clinic in Maine.

I was also among the early practitioners to volunteer Reiki services at Maine Medical Center in Portland, offering treatments across various units, including pre-operative care. In addition, I founded and facilitated the first Reiki Clinic at the Cancer Community Center in South Portland, where I provided Reiki to individuals navigating cancer treatment and recovery.

Since 2001, I have been teaching Reiki classes and offering certification training, attuning many wonderful students and practitioners. Throughout my career as a Reiki Master Teacher, I have given over 3,000 treatments. In 2011, I organized the first Reiki Conference in Maine, bringing together Reiki Masters from diverse lineages to speak, share, and connect. I have also had the honor of lecturing at the University of Southern Maine in the Holistic Health Program, as well as at various higher education and wellness institutions across the United States.

Today, my studio is located in the historic State Theatre Building in downtown Portland, Maine. It is a dedicated healing space where I offer monthly Certification Classes for Level One and Level Two, as well as one-on-one Master Training. My journey with Reiki continues to unfold, guiding me toward deeper understanding, purpose, and service. I am grateful to share this work and to support others in discovering their own capacity for healing.

Many blessings,

Mary
